The culinary team select only the best seasonal produce for menus created by Executive Sous Chef Michele Menegazzi, Chef de Cuisine Jason Phi Huynh and Head Pastry Chef Kumiko Endo. Cast your eyes out across Sydney Harbour, and opt for thoughtful wine pairings by Executive Sommelier Matt Herod to complete your taste journey.

For intimate gatherings, the restaurant’s glass jewel box of a private dining room is the most impressive in Sydney and literally ‘floats’ above the city, accommodating up to 18 guests.

Altitude won Restaurant of the Year at the Australian Hotels Association National Awards for Excellence and the NSW Accommodation Awards for Excellence, as well as the prestigious 3 Glass Rating at Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards, 2023.

The Team

Altitude has unveiled a new modern Australian menu created by the culinary team. Savour rich and diverse flavours from land and by sea from Australia’s best producers; meats and seafood grilled, smoked and charred to perfection. The classic menu is enhanced by a thoughtful wine list created by the hotel’s Executive Sommelier, Matt Herod.

Michele Menegazzi, Executive Sous Chef

Executive Sous Chef Michele Menegazzi brings a sense of global culinary flair to his hospitality career. With a rich Italian and Dutch heritage, this serves as the foundation for his love of food and flavours. Chef Michele has worked in Michelin starred restaurants, including Aan de Poel in the Netherlands to one of Australia's most celebrated hatted restaurants, Quay, by Peter Gilmore. He also held the position of Chef de Partie at internationally acclaimed Sepia restaurant. Outside of combining fresh ingredients and creative textures in Altitude’s kitchen, Chef Michele finds inspiration from the great outdoors, adventuring, hiking, swimming and getting lost the sights and sounds.

Kumiko Endo, Head Pastry Chef

Shangri-La Sydney Head Pastry Chef; Kumiko Endo, developed a world view of desserts after two decades of experience working with award-winning chefs and restauranteurs. After helming the pastry team at Sydney’s iconic restaurant; Tetsuya, Kumiko joined Melbourne’s Attica, globally recognised in the Top 50 Restaurants of the world, before her most recent role at Sydney’s renowned Bather’s Pavilion. Kumiko begun her pastry career in native Japan, adopting a passion for seasonal produce and the fine art of Japanese cooking techniques and styles. Shortly thereafter, Kumiko relocated to Australia, embarking on a fruitful journey of perfecting her pastry craft in the kitchens of luxury international hotel brands. With a passion for scuba diving and a fluency in three languages ensuing endless travels, Kumiko’s desserts are inspired by her surroundings, both on land and under the sea.
